Social responsibilities

Incontinence products provide a basic need for individuals experiencing bladder weakness. The benefits they provide have a significant positive impact on quality of life.  Increasing independence, confidence and freedom of movement allows people to engage in social activities and enjoy a full and active life.

Incontinence is very common: bladder weakness affects one in four women over the age of 35; one in eight men experience issues with bladder control at some point in their lives. However, there is still social and psychological stigma attached to the condition. TENA has been working for many years to educate people about incontinence, to open dialogue in order to  break through the stigma to normalise the condition.

TENA and its parent company Essity work with a number of scientific organisations to raise standards of incontinence care, support incontinence research and improve training and information provided to healthcare professionals. This work is vital in initiating dialogue, and challenging the taboos surrounding incontinence and improving the quality of life for people who experience bladder weakness.

We have also created CoreWellness, a programme developed with leading experts to improve core muscle strength and increase overall wellbeing. Studies show that following the pelvic floor programme can cure stress urinary incontinence in 2 out of 3 women as well as improving posture and overall strength.
